Spinach dip with Fried Bowtie Pastas
Ingredients
- 8 Oz Frozen Spinach
- 1 cup Parmesan Cheese
- 1/2 cup Mozzarella Cheese
- 3/4 cup Heavy Whipping cream
- pinch garlic powder
- 4 Oz cream cheese
- 1 Tbsp Butter
- 8 oz bowtie pasta noodles
- 2 Eggs
- 2 tbsp milk
- 2 cups bread crumbs (italian or regular)
- oil to fry with
Instructions
- For the Spinach dip - mix all of the ingredients in a casserole dish, and stick it in the oven on 350 for about 30 minutes. Once it has heated up you can stir it all together and make it the dip. It doesn’t require much work. The noodles, require more work.
- (Tip: I heat the whipping cream and the butter together in a small pot before I mix it in… it makes a pre alfredo sauce and finishes better, but I don’t think you’d have to do this)
- For the noodles- boil them until they are just before al dente. Probably about 6 minutes, or a little over half the required cooking time.
- Drain them and let them cool a bit.
- Mix the eggs and milk together. Dip the bowties in the egg/milk mixture, then dip them in the bread crumbs then fry them! They should be a deep golden brown. Its easy to think they are done when they are not.
- You also don’t want to put too much mixture on the noodles, because it will build up in the crease and become gummy when they are fried. They should be like a delicious substitute for crackers.
- This takes a little time, is a little messy, but is super good when its made!
