Open-Face Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1/2 pound top round steak cut into thin strips
- 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced
- 1 onion thinly sliced
- 2 garlic cloves chopped
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 slices whole-grain peasant bread
- 4 slicesslices Jarlsberg or swiss cheese
Instructions
- 1. preheat the broiler. spray a broiler rack with nonstick spray.
- 2. heat 2 teaspoon of the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. add the beef and cook, turning occasionally until browned, 3-4 minutes. transfer to a plate. add the remaining 1 teaspoon oil to the skillet. add the bell pepper, onion, and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened, 8 minutes. stir in the beef, worcestershire, hot sauce, and salt; cook until heated through, 2 minutes.
- 3. sppon 1/2 cup of the steak mixture onto each bread slice and top with the cheese. Place on the broiler rack and broil until the cheese is melted and bubbly, 1-2 minutes.
